Alternatives to an Interior Design Program

One of the most important things that you can do for yourself when going to college is to allow for the possibility that you’re not going to like the program that you’ve initially chosen. Ideally, you’ll love it. But you may start the work and find that there’s something not quite right about it. Be willing to figure out what’s wrong so that you can get on the right path.

For example, let’s say that you’re going to an Interior Design Program and you just don’t like it. Here are some reasons that may be and some alternatives to choose:

  • You don’t feel like it’s cutting-edge enough. Maybe you’d prefer a digital photography program at a school like Brooks Institute or Bethpage Briarcliffe College.
  • You don’t feel like it allows you to be creative in the way that you would like. Perhaps you’d be more interested in attending painting classes at a local community college.
  • It’s not active enough. Perhaps you’d best express yourself through a performance dance program or by joining a local comedy club.
  • It’s too loose-ended. Maybe you thought you were more creative than you are and would rather like a cut-and-dry program like accounting.

Figure out what isn’t quite right about your school and then find a way to make a change that will take care of the problem for you.
