Job Options for Students with a Criminal Justice Degree

We all know that it’s possible to get a degree in criminal justice. This is one of the most common degrees offered through online schools. It is also one of the most prevalent degrees advertised by colleges that promote their programs through television commercials. However, the average person may not be entirely sure what types of jobs are available to the student who graduates with a degree in criminal justice.
Here are some of the career choices for criminal justice students:
- Investigative work. Students may work with local police departments or even with the FBI investigating and solving crimes.
- Law enforcement. Police and probation officers as well as prison guards go further in their careers with this type of degree.
- Government agencies. Every government agency from the National Park Service to the Post Office hires people with this type of degree background.
- Court work. Administrative and security positions at court houses are an area of social need filled by these people.
- Lawyer. Many students find that they want to go further with this type of education and ultimately go to law school.
Criminal justice degrees teach students how to implement the law. This leads to legal jobs that let these graduates uphold the law in a variety of different ways.
